I just can't get with the isolation exercise stuff, I really can't.

It's the bench, row and squat for me. I also like doing underhand pull ups, dips and deadlifting with a trap bar. All a body can need. Oh, and sprinting!

Yep, for overall functional strength thats all you need Leo. The way I see it there's only so many functional movements, and so you only need so many exercises. You have you press down (dips), press out/up (bench/incline bench/military press). You have your pull up (ironicially standing rows), your pull in (bench rows) and your pull down (pullups/chins). You have your two major types of posterior chain lifts (deadlift and squat), which are really quite whole-body and therefore target quite a bit of core.

The only thing you might consider adding could be some more focused core work like planks/mountain climbers for in-line core, or woodchoppers/reverse woodchoppers for twisting core. There are of course plenty of other core exercises - those are just some that I like.

Then of course there is the question of whether you're trying to develop pure strength vs. explosive power. You could add explosive lower body power by doing cleans, explosive deadlifts, jump squats, etc. Explosive pushing is a bit harder to do safely, but you can do it on the bench with a good spotter. Explosive pulling can be done with sternum-ups instead of pullups.

Well yes, if your goal is to look like Mr. Olympia. If you're goal is to be fit and functionally strong, then you can do that much better but not doing isolation exercises, or at least not doing them very much.

Isolation exercises are like the seasoning I use when cooking - shit's sort of bland without them, but is absolute rubbish if overdone.

I enjoy natural exercises w/o weights. Handstands. Climbing. Push-ups. Acrobatics. Handstands has added definition I never had with weights. 8-)
