I got a text from this girl just now. She wrote, "I love that you tell me what you like, it lets me know I'm doing good :)" So letting them know what you like and what you don't like, in the moment, allows them to feel more secure and at ease. This may be obvious to some, but it's taken me awhile. Sometimes not being forthright is a defense mechanism. You can't be judged when keep everything to yourself. In other words, fuck what they think. Honesty is still the best policy.

I suggest you read something called 'Radical Honesty' - see : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radical_Honesty

Have heard good reports about it.

Honesty removes some of the levers that people can use against you.
It also means you do not have to remember anything (as in stories behind lies), you just say it how it is.

It also gives people that feeling that you are being open, which lets them know where they stand.
