Ok, I made a new thread were we can put links, video's, pictures and interesting information about Myers Briggs personality tests.

I did a couple of these tests last week, because Morpheus made a thread about it and it made me curious. It turns out I am (probably) an INFP, but also scored INFJ a couple of times and also S and N were pretty close sometimes.

The INFP description resonated most with me. It somehow gave me more insight into myself. I actually put this thread here because this Myers Briggs personality test showed me what my strengths are and my weaknesses are.

This is helpful because now I can make my strengths even stronger, and maybe I can learn to work with my weaknesses by accepting them and maybe even turning them into assets.

The more I find out about this MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) thing, the more interesting it gets. It really seems to have a valid foundation. I know for some people it might be difficult to find their type, because every time you do a test a different type might come out. For example in my case it is kind of difficult to decide whether I am INFJ or INFP. This next video might be helpful:

http://www.youtube.com/user/jenilyn8705 ... 9iMcrBwm8c

It explains that it is not so much about the four letters, because the functions behind them are more important.

Nothing really... I just thought it might be more convenient to have a thread where we can put links and video's about this subject.

We can still put this under the existing thread if that is more convenient.

Moderators!?! Shall we move this or leave it here?

This one made me laugh, I have a lot of people try to do this one to me.

For some reason they get really annoyed when I fail to speed up and just walk at the same pace towards the door while smiling at them holding it and getting impatient.

If you want real fun, slow down and watch them then

I think one of the things we can learn from this is how other people view us.

Look at Kidd!!'s avatar... ;)

One thing I never quite understood about myself is why people (especially girls) would view me as cute, but not (necessarily) sexually cute. More like puppy dog cute, or fluffy bunny cute... :? I don't always like this, but somehow people view me this way. Also it is weird to me sometimes because I don't necessarily feel that way inside. I can literally say the dumbest shit and some girl will go: "Aawww, how cute..."

Then I found out I am an INFP and saw these pictures:

Apparently that is how some people might see me... Not your typical dominant alpha male!

Whenever I did try to act like a dominant alpha male asshole in the past it would really turn people off!!! It's just not congruent with who I am or certainly not with how other people see me. Even though I can be an egoistic asshole sometimes.

I guess we can not change this about ourselves. We just have to accept it and work with what we've got.

Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging
by Joe Butt

Profile: ISTJ
Revision: 3.0
Date of Revision: 27 Feb 2005

"It is in keeping with tradition throughout our history that I should express simply and directly the opinions which I hold concerning some of the matters of present importance." --Herbert Hoover, Inaugural Address, Monday, March 4, 1929.

ISTJs are often called inspectors. They have a keen sense of right and wrong, especially in their area of interest and/or responsibility. They are noted for devotion to duty. Punctuality is a watchword of the ISTJ. The secretary, clerk, or business(wo)man by whom others set their clocks is likely to be an ISTJ.

As do other Introverted Thinkers, ISTJs often give the initial impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold. Effusive expression of emotional warmth is not something that ISTJs do without considerable energy loss.

ISTJs are most at home with "just the facts, Ma'am." They seem to perform at highest efficiency when employing a step-by-step approach. Once a new procedure has proven itself (i.e., has been shown "to work,") the ISTJ can be depended upon to carry it through, even at the expense of their own health.

ISTJs are easily frustrated by the inconsistencies of others, especially when the second parties don't keep their commitments. But they usually keep their feelings to themselves unless they are asked. And when asked, they don't mince words. Truth wins out over tact. The grim determination of the ISTJ vindicates itself in officiation of sports events, judiciary functions, or an other situation which requires making tough calls and sticking to them.

His SJ orientation draws the ISTJ into the service of established institutions. Home, social clubs, government, schools, the military, churches -- these are the bastions of the SJ. "We've always done it this way" is often reason enough for many ISTJs. Threats to time-honored traditions or established organizations (e.g., a "run" on the bank) are the undoing of SJs, and are to be fought at all costs.

If you don't want to read the whole quote, here's the headline : Opposite attracts (for the Dominant Function of your type, so if you're an INTJ, it's Inroverted (attitude) iNtuition (function), so you would likely be attracted to Extraverted iNtuition (opposite of the attitude), for my experience I would say I always liked Extraverted girls, so I would agree on that.

What about you ?
Did you find a pattern (or a type of girl) that you like / are attracted to ? (not physically of course)

Natural Partners

You may be interested in understanding how we came to the conclusion that certain types are ideal for each other. Our type pairing is a result of combining observation, research, and understanding of Jungian psychological type. Observation and research of married couples shows that there is a definite trend in types that are attracted to each other, and in type combinations that have the longest lasting relationships. Our understanding of psychological type helps to see that these types typically have the same dominant function, but with a different attitude.

In Jungian terms, "functions" refer to the four core traits: Intuition (N), Sensing (S), Feeling (F), and Thinking (T). The term "attitude" refers to the direction of the function, i.e. Introverted (I) or Extraverted (E).

So, for example, a person with a personality type of ISFP has a dominant function of Introverted Feeling. More specifically, Feeling in the dominant function, and its attitude (or direction) is Introverted. A person with this personality type is likely to be most attracted to, and fit best with, a person that has Extraverted Feeling dominating their personality. Extraverted Feeling dominates the personality types ESFJ and ENFJ. We therefore determine that the ISFP's natural partner is the ESFJ or the ENFJ.

Our natural attraction to people who share our dominant function, but who use it in a different direction works very well for us. We not only flip-flop the Introverted or Extraverted trait, but we also flip-flop the Judging or Perceiving trait. In this way, the partner that we choose for ourselves will have a very different approach to dealing with the world. If we are laid-back and indecisive, our partner will be structured and decisive. If we are reserved, our partner will be outgoing. For all of our apparent differences, we will share a common vision of what's truly important in life.

For people whose personality types are dominated by Decision Making functions, (i.e. Thinking or Feeling), their ideal partners will include both Sensing and Intuitive types. Many people have problems communicating effectively with people who do not share their same preference for Information Gathering. So, if you have a very strong preference for Sensing or Intuition, you will need to give the personality type with the same preference a higher value as a likely natural partner. For example, an ISFP who strongly prefers Sensing will work best with an ESFJ, rather than an ENFJ.

Although we believe firmly that this model works very well to help in finding and maintaining healthy relationships, it is important to remember that it's just a tool. We offer guidelines to help you understand the kinds of things that you value in a relationship, rather than guidelines that you need to follow strictly. Two well-developed individuals of any type can make a relationship work. And work is a key concept here! There is no such thing as an effortless relationship. Don't use this model as an excuse to dump your relationship.

It's very true.. Basically it sums up all my findings about people's compatibilities in relationships so far..

I'm ENFJ and according to this tool my natural partner should be ISFP. I read about them and these are basically girls I'm attracted to the most.. Thing is I can't remember any case I got close to those girls. It's like you can't even meet these people anywhere and if you do, you do one shit wrong and it's over, you never see them again. And they are shy as fuck, hardest people to get to know...

I can't stop laughing, I made my sister do the test, she's an ISFP :D

maybe you still have hope with the INFPs ^^
