There's many different types of tantra. Most people teach the more new age neo-tantra made popular by Osho. That's more or less like a new age sex techniques type thing...which alot of it is good dont get me wrong. I haven't heard any complaints yet. However, tantra originally was more 80% of an indiviual practice than completely being about sex...of course it was also about sex as well. I got this book about a month ago at the bookstore called "Tantric Sex" by Kavida Rei that got me really interested in tantra. Later I was at home, sitting outside, drinking a beer reading it in my backyard when my friend walks up. She see's the nude pictures in the book and she's like "What are you reading?" I just said "A book about Tantric Sex." all casually and she got all embarassed and didn't know how to respond. Then another girl texts me and asks what I'm doing and I say the same thing, lol. However, this girl I have been with before and she's like "Ooooh I cant wait to try that out!" My point is go and read it were people can see you reading it. It's a great conversation starter for the modern libertine. |

The Modern Libertine I am curious and have a question What or who in the world is a Modern Libertine does that have the same meaning as being an alpha male, or warrior, or a prince ??? Do they live by similar codes and principles as these supposedly rare men do ? |

It just comes from my fascination with old time libertines. To give you an example of libertines I would point to Casanova first and foremost. Then some of the more sinister libertines were Lord Byron, John Wilmot the second Earl of Rochester(Played by Johnny Depp in the movie "The Libertine")and The Marquis de Sade. The term like any is an evlolving one, but the most popular definition would be "a dissolute person; usually one who is morally unrestrained." If you were to go by the Robert Greene archetypes in his book "The art of seduction" you would most often file them directly under the category of Rake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertine There is wikipedia article on them. |

@ TheModernLibertine Hi, don't take this personal. It sounds great to be a libertine, because there's freedom involved. But, I don't know why someone would like to be a dissolute person. I mean, many people in the porn industry are dissolute. At least following the definition of the term "dissolute". And having The Marquis de Sade as a model? I mean, sadism is the dark side of sexuality, and something worst than porn is sado porn. I bet that many sado porn producers also have de Sade as a hero. sa·dism: –noun 1.Psychiatry. sexual gratification gained through causing pain or degradation to others.Compare masochism. 2.any enjoyment in being cruel. 3.extreme cruelty. I'm not who to tell you the path you want to follow, is just that many here know the bad effects of porn. With this I'm not telling you that I'm a saint or anything like that. If you feel that this is the way for you to go. Go ahead. It's just that I think the matrix has some appealing ideologies to catch people, perhaps the libertine manifesto is a way, I don't know. Greetings, and again don't take it personal, no one here is perfect (obviously I'm not), but we're here to learn from others. |

Actually I'm not a fan of porn and I definitely wouldn't say The Marquis de Sade is a role model of mine, but if you've ever seen the movie "Quills" you will see why I think he is hilarious. I gave you the classic definition of Libertine, but as we all know, words change their meaning over time and I am the modern libertine, not the classic version. If anything, I am more like casanova than any other libertine...you know except for the fact that I have never had a three way with my daughter and her mother...or bedded two nuns at once, but who's to say those things couldn't happen in the future...kidding. I am kidding...I hope |
