MAN IMPROVEMENT — The Development Protocol
Based on John Griffin's transcript (Life 2.0). This is an action plan for the man who wants to develop, strengthen, and become the version of himself who attracts and deserves a healthy relationship — or who chooses not to have one.
FOUNDING PRINCIPLE
You must be complete BEFORE considering a relationship. A woman does not complete a man. She shares the life of a man who is already complete.
If you think you are missing something and a woman will fill it, you are in an illusion. You will project your anima (the feminine part of yourself) onto her, you will see in her what does not exist, and you will chase a shadow.
The work is first on yourself. Always.
1. MAKE YOUR MIND A SANCTUARY
The space between your ears must be the most pleasant place you live in.
1.1 The Rules of the Sanctuary
- You are your own cheerleader — No negative self-talk allowed
- Rejection is an event, not a verdict — Do not let rejection define your worth
- Failure is a step toward success — No rumination. Learn and move on.
- Negative thoughts are monitored — Do not let limiting beliefs take root
1.2 Daily Protocol
- Morning: Before any screen, 5 minutes telling yourself what you appreciate about yourself.
- Rejection / Failure: Treat it as an objective fact. "It did not happen. It is not a statement about my value."
- Evening: What did I learn today? What did I do well?
If you cannot make your mind a sanctuary, no woman can do it for you. And she will not. It is not her role.
2. SEE YOURSELF AS THE PRIZE
The "Simp Industrial Complex" has taught you that the woman is the prize. It is a lie.
What you bring:
- Your time — your most precious resource, irreplaceable
- Your presence — your attention, your energy, your focus
- Your life — you offer someone a chance to share your existence
The real exchange: You give your time. She gives her time. That is the fundamental exchange. Not money, not resources — time.
Change the game: The current rules (man provides, woman provides intimacy) are unbalanced. The state can force the man to provide resources, but cannot force the woman to provide intimacy. You cannot win this game with their rules. You must change the rules or not play.
Never put a woman on a pedestal. The pedestal is a prison — for you and for her.
3. CLARITY ABOVE ALL — THE CRYSTAL IN THE MIND
You will never achieve what you cannot describe with precision.
3.1 The 3 Fundamental Questions
- Who are you? — Know yourself before seeking anyone else.
- What do you want? — What is the objective of this relationship? What is its purpose?
- What does the ideal relationship look like? — Roles, responsibilities, atmosphere, daily life.
3.2 The Writing Exercise (by hand, NOT typed)
Write physically on paper:
- Why do I want a relationship? (If the reason is irrational, you will see it when writing it down)
- What does the ideal relationship look like?
- What is my role in this relationship?
- What is her role?
- What is the goal? (Children? Marriage? Long-term partnership?)
- What am I willing to give?
- What am I NOT willing to give?
Handwriting forces your brain to slow down and think. A Word document you save, you never look at again. A paper folded in your pocket, you consult it.
3.3 The "Reasonable Facsimiles"
The world will serve you women who look like what you want — if you squint. The universe tempts you with approximate copies.
"If you want butterscotch ice cream and someone offers you coffee flavored ice cream, do not accept. You want butterscotch? Hold out for the butterscotch."
Writing allows you to recognize the copy and walk away.
4. SELF-AWARENESS — IDENTIFY YOUR PROJECTIONS (YIN YANG / JUNG)
The Yin Yang symbol:
- White half (masculine) → black dot = inner feminine (anima)
- Black half (feminine) → white dot = inner masculine (animus)
What Jung understood: You unconsciously project your anima onto women. You see in her an idealized version that comes from YOU, not from her.
4.1 Projection Identification Exercise
- What idealized female figures do you carry in your head? (Artists, actresses, characters, maternal figures)
- Where do they come from? (Childhood, movies, music, culture)
- What qualities do you see in them?
- Do these qualities actually exist in real women, or are they archetypes?
- When you were inexplicably attracted to a woman, what were you projecting onto her?
The more inexplicable and irrational the attraction, the more you are projecting. The more you project, the less you see the real person.
4.2 Your Crush History
Look at the women who attracted you in the past:
- What common pattern do you see?
- Does this pattern come from your childhood / your environment?
- Was this woman actually like you believed, or did you fill in the blanks with your projections?
5. BOUNDARIES — THE BACKBONE OF A MAN
5.1 The Relationship Killers List
What you tolerate under NO circumstances. Write this list down BEFORE meeting anyone.
Examples:
- Untreated psychological instability
- Chronic lying / manipulation
- Fundamental disrespect
- Verbal or physical violence
- Infidelity
- Intimacy used as a weapon
- Breakup threats during arguments
- Hidden debt / financial irresponsibility
- Untreated addictions
- Refusal of a prenuptial agreement (if marriage is considered)
5.2 The Enforcement System
- 1st time (firm boundary): "I cannot have this in my life. I need peace. If this continues, the relationship ends."
- 2nd time: "This is your last chance. If it happens again, it is over."
- 3rd time: You leave. No negotiation. No return.
If you have to repeat the same boundary more than once, the relationship is dying anyway.
5.3 Do Not Be The Savior
The "damsel in distress" is a trap. Do NOT look for a woman who has tons of problems so you can fix them. That is the road to disaster.
You are not there to save, repair, or heal her. You are there to share a life with someone who is already functional.
6. THE ABUNDANCE MINDSET — KILL THE SCARCITY MENTALITY
6.1 Scarcity Thinking (Destroy)
- "What if I never find someone this good again?"
- "She has 80% of what I want. This might be the best I can get."
- "I am getting older. Time is running out."
Consequence: You accept women who are wrong for you. You ignore red flags. You stay in relationships that destroy you.
6.2 Abundance Thinking (Cultivate)
- There are 4+ billion women on the planet
- The one you are looking for is also looking for you
- You do not need to take the first one who comes along
- You would not buy the first car you can finance — why would you do that with a woman?
Attraction principle: You emit an electromagnetic field (heart, brain). What you emit, you attract. If you are clear on what you want, the universe filters for you.
7. RESISTANCE — BUILD STRENGTH THROUGH ADVERSITY
"Resistance is part of life. Get used to it. Resistance makes you stronger — like weights at the gym. It is the healing after the resistance, the growth that comes from it."
7.1 The Principles
- Do not flee challenges — they are the mechanism of growth
- Avoid traps (not challenges) — problems you CANNOT solve, do not engage with
- Create an environment where you are most likely to succeed — do not bet on changing the other, bet on changing yourself
7.2 Continuous Evolution
"When you find the right woman, it is not the finish line. It is the beginning of the race."
You will have to become:
- Smarter
- More aware
- More intentional in your objectives
- A better version of yourself
And it never stops. Growth is continuous.
8. DAILY PROTOCOL — THE 5 PILLARS
Pillar 1: Mental Sanctuary (10 min/day)
- No negative self-talk
- Rejection = event, not verdict
- Be your own cheerleader
Pillar 2: Clarity (weekly review)
- Reread your writings (what you want, what you do not want)
- Adjust if necessary
- Stay aligned
Pillar 3: Projection (permanent awareness)
- When an attraction is irrational → ask yourself what you are projecting
- Separate the real person from the image you are building
Pillar 4: Boundaries (weekly review)
- Did you respect your boundaries this week?
- Did you let something slide that you should have cut?
- Are your boundaries still the right ones?
Pillar 5: Growth (daily)
- What did I learn today?
- Where did I meet resistance?
- Am I stronger today than yesterday?
9. THE TESTS — KNOW YOURSELF
Test 1: Are you complete?
- [ ] I am happy alone
- [ ] My life has meaning without a partner
- [ ] I do not expect a woman to "save" me
- [ ] My goals are mine, not those of a hypothetical couple
- [ ] I am not afraid of ending up alone
Less than 4 checks → you are not ready. Work on yourself first.
Test 2: Do you have boundaries?
- [ ] I have a written list of what I do not accept
- [ ] I have already ended a relationship that violated my boundaries
- [ ] I can say "no" without guilt
- [ ] I do not sacrifice my values to avoid loneliness
Less than 3 checks → you are vulnerable. Do the work.
Test 3: Does the relationship make your life better?
- [ ] My life is OBJECTIVELY better with her than without her
- [ ] I feel MORE myself with her, not less
- [ ] I do not walk on eggshells
- [ ] The energy between us is fluid, not a constant fight
- [ ] She adds to my life, she does not fill a void
10. PROTECTION — THE CONTRACT
If marriage or financial commitment:
Bilateral prenuptial — NON-NEGOTIABLE
It is life insurance. You are not anticipating failure, you are anticipating uncertainty.
- It protects both parties
- It creates a clear dissolution structure
- It prevents leverage imbalance (divorce threat used as a weapon)
If she refuses a prenuptial: she does not understand the power dynamics of modern marriage. She is not deep enough. Move on.
11. FINAL WISDOM — STAYING SINGLE IS A VALID OPTION
"Stay healthy. If you can stay single."
The thought of a long-term relationship can be exhausting. It is not a failure to recognize that the game may not be worth the squeeze.
You have the choice:
- Work on yourself and seek an aligned relationship
- Work on yourself and stay single
Both are valid. But in both cases, the work on yourself is the priority.
"You better know yourself. You better know her. You better know what you want and what this relationship is going to be like. If you don't know those three things, you're headed for disaster."
— John Griffin
"The resistance is what makes you stronger. It's like lifting weights — it's the healing from the resistance, the growth that comes from it."
— John Griffin
