Post subject:  Responsibility and Authority

* these are quotes from a pm conversation I had with another member about being hard on ourselves.

I've felt like I've been much harder on myself since taking more responsibility for my actions and circumstances. The conversation was able to point out a blind spot I was holding onto.

Yeah, it isn't. Being more honest with ourselves to me means we take more responsibility for our actions and outcomes. This to me means it's a lot easier to be hard on ourselves. How do you deal with this, if you do experience it?

We also take less responsibility for those things out of our control, realm of influence.
This makes it slightly harder to be hard on yourself.

Yes, I fuck up.. I do mess things up.

I only own those things I have been part of putting in place.

It reminds me of a phrase : all the responsibility without the authority.

To me, if you try and put responsibility on me without me having authority, its a trap. Likewise the same for myself. we are educated to take responsibility without having the authority to change things.. we have to educate ourselves to not walk into that trap.
