I dumped the enlightenment stuff after regaining my sanity, I've been trying to transcend my personality and my suffering when all along the best course of action was to embrace them.

I got back in to Nathaniel Branden and for the first time in years I can genuinely say I quite like being me, whether I'm depressed, gone crazy, happy, bored or lonely or feeling some emotion I'd usually try to block out.

Nathaniel Branden is more about using your mind the right way rather than "suffering is an illusion" and I'm glad I rediscovered him were it not for him I'd still be meditating under a tree.

So, true, but what Peregrinus forgot to say is Self Esteem doesn't mean shit. When you finally get it you won't even notice its there until you do some introspection. I wouldn't focus on being more comfortable with myself and liking myself. I would focus on getting comfortable with everything around me. Most learning happens from external stimulus. Its why learning about women is a long slow deductive process.

self esteem IS important. he should focus on being comfortable with himself, cuz if he ain't comfy with himself, outside influence will only be ephemeral. it's all the outside influence which had him talking about being enlightened and shit. check his post for yourself, he came back and said he gave up that whole enlightened bit.

It was supposed to be a joke, I was implying that they're both as pleasurable except that self esteem lasts longer than the four hours *cough*seconds*cough* of good sex.
I've pretty good self esteem now and I found my own way of getting there. I appreciate everything The Kidd has bestowed upon us and as for me I've to figure things out on my own I can only learn through experience, its why I sucked at the theory of chemistry and ruled at the experiments.

I guess you could say I'm pretty awkard:P
