Free Solo is a 2018 American documentary film directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. The film profiles rock climber Alex Honnold on his quest to perform a free solo climb of El Capitan in June 2017. The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2018, and also screened at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People's Choice Award in the Documentaries category.[3] It was released in the United States on September 28, 2018, received positive reviews from critics and has grossed over $21 million. The film received numerous accolades, including winning Best Documentary Feature at the 91st Academy Awards.[

BBC2 in the uk played this last night, in full HD goodness, took that as a hint to watch it again. It will be on iplayer for a while, for those with access, otherwise, your favorite search engine will help you. Watching it again after a gap highlighted so many things lost on the first watches. Very interesting documentary about the whole process, would recommend a watch even for those with a limited interest in climbing. Came across this recent interview with Alex which goes more through the whole process for him, interesting watch and shines a different light on the effort.
