Same here... I can honestly say that I don't know what's the purpose of this video, if it has one.
Maybe that I have a signs of OCD in myself? Or, that the forms of expressing emotions trough poetry, or any form of artistic expression is good?
The history of his true love, didn't moved me at all.

I am more moved when pets die, leave, or get severely damaged by humans...

Or, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

Realise it is not about the woman.

Now watch it again.

I'm trying to see beyond it being about the woman, but I'm not sure if my observations correlate with what you see peregrinus. I see a man whose accepted himself for who he is, OCD and all and may even have accepted the fact that no woman would ever accept him for who he is. Then 'she' came along and opened his eyes to what he thought would never happen. Now he is on his own again, in a bigger "world" (shown by the acceptance of the woman), which he has trouble accepting.

I feel like I'm close, but at the same time so far from what is being subtly displayed. Looking forward to what the others see :) .

To me the lesson here is that he didn't finish how he started. Originally, his OCD tendencies were his obsession and she was probably attracted by his ability to accept his condition for what it was and not let it hold him back.

Later on, she became his obsession and this probably scared her off because she didn't sign up for that. Hence, finish how you start

Sometimes art doesn't need an explanation. Beautiful. Thanks for posting.

He stopped some of his OCD behaviors. Because of her. But in reality he never needed her. He could have done this all by himself. In fact he did it all by himself.

I thought it was performance art and he was acting, and I was very impressed and thought it was a very creative thing to think up and perform. But then I saw the comments and learned that he actually had OCD. Very interesting.

There are a couple of reasons as to why I think this video went viral and others enjoy it.

First of all the guy reciting the poem is very honest. We are getting a glimpse into his mind, and how his thoughts pop-up. It is fascinating to observe the utter chaos in his thinking, and how this gives other people who don't suffer from OCD a glimpse as to what that is like.

However, I believe that his portrayal isn't that much different to what happens in my own thoughts. When I observe my thoughts, at times, in fact a lot of times it is utter chaos. I don't have OCD or obsess with germs and other stuff, but I do have some obsessions and attachments, and if I am honest it can get quite as manic as what that guy showed.

So maybe, others find this video beautiful because it puts them in an observer role, where they get to experience what goes on for them as well, but they resist or don't want to admit. It's a breath of fresh air to see someone having the courage, openness and awareness, that they don't have themselves

Freeing Yourself From Your Mind

What exactly do you mean by "watching the thinker"?

When someone goes to the doctor and says, "I hear a voice in my head," he or she will most likely be sent to a psychiatrist. The fact is that, in a very similar way, virtually everyone hears a voice, or several voices, in their head all the time: the involuntary thought processes that you don't realize you have the power to stop. Continuous monologues or dialogues.

You have probably come across "mad" people in the street incessantly talking or muttering to themselves. Well, that's not much different from what you and all other "normal" people do, except that you don't do it out loud. The voice comments, speculates, judges, compares, complains, likes, dislikes, and so on. The voice isn't necessarily relevant to the situation you find yourself in at the time; it may be reviving the recent or distant past or rehearsing or imagining possible future situations. Here it often imagines things going wrong and negative outcomes; this is called worry. Sometimes this soundtrack is accompanied by visual images or "mental movies.

If there's one thing I've learned on my Pimp Tight Journey, it's that it's never about the woman.

Yes!

This is exactly what is going on in my head. I used to obsess over girls just like this guy does. To be honest I still do!!! :? However it has become way more manageable lately. At least now I recognize this obsession is only going on in my head and it has little basis in reality. I can kind of watch it from a distance now (not always though, sometimes I still get caught up in my own thinking...).

Actually I feel sorry for this guy. It is so recognizable. That is what makes it so beautiful!

Also look at it from the viewpoint of the woman in question. It is kind of scary to have someone obsess over you like that...
