The film is about something a lot deeper than you think.

It is beyond matrix and the things we talk about here. It's about something that is going on in your real lives.

Personally I think it is shameful that it has been re-released and is even on TV nowadays.

They couldn't wait for him to die so they could overturn his self imposed withdrawal and ban and re-release it.

....their patience was overspent with Eyes Wide Shut. And when the deed was done, they butchered the living hell out of it - literally!

Shame we'll never see the real movie.

Indeed, very sad indeed.

Mind you, the choice of leads was wrong in my view, I find it hard to watch because of them.

They really butchered both the story and what had been made film wise and scene wise... There are so many versions of that film out there it is not funny.
So much is left out and the ending is just sick, really sick... how they did that.

I enjoyed the book, years before and was sadly disappointed by the movie... after looking forward to it so much when I first heard Kubrick was making a film of it. So much was left out and/or changed and added. I know that happens with films but to leave out core parts of the story is just criminal, then add bits which change the core of the story.

is it true that eyes wide shut was made in reference to secret sex cults?
I heard it was a play on ritualistic sex.

We know that Kubrick had (at least) one last shot at the editing process before his "sudden" death. Many extra lines had been included where they were not necessary (this happens very often in the filming process as a matter of due course). My opinion is that they were disenfranchised, much like the film. Though it is possible that I might be being bias; as a Tom Cruise 'appreciator'.
