Greetings, friends

I've been reading The Poetic Edda lately, and I'm astounded by how much these 1000+ year old texts reflect the values and experiences shared among us on this forum.

So here I'll post some of the most thematically fitting life advice (not commandments!) from Hávamál written down by Odin himself. I'll add more as time goes by

Observation:
1. At every doorway before you enter, you should look around, you should take a good look around— for you never know where your enemies might be seated within.

Cloaking:
6. A wise man is not showy about his wisdom;
he guards it carefully.
He is silent when he comes to a stranger’s home.
Harm seldom befalls the watchful man, for you can never have a more faithful friend than a good supply of wisdom.

Pushups:
8. A man is happy if he finds praise and friendship within himself.
You can never be sure of where you stand in someone else’s heart.

Thank you, and a happy new year to you as well!

Here's another one:

Finishing how you start:
130. I counsel you, Loddfafnir,
if you’ll take my advice, you’ll profit
if you learn it, it’ll do you good if you remember it:
131. If you want to win a good woman with joyful talk, and you want to enjoy her— make promises to her, and keep your promises, you’ll never regret winning such a prize.
